Fire, Edisto

This little watercolor was inspired by a small painting by William DeHartburn Washington titled Marion's Camp. It's on my website - check it out. Anyway, I was out at Rabbit Point on Edisto with my family at the home of some very good friends for Thanksgiving. That evening, as they often do, they lit a big bonfire which we all gathered around. All the kids, the adults with adult beverages, a little nip in the air. Well, those images & memories all stay with me for a long time. Fire, Edisto is the result.

Quite an impressive departure. I would never have put your name to this piece when looking at your greater body of work. A series of fire or night lit scenes is in order. Great job!

Well, keep your eyes open for The Color of Night - hopefully a new show coming up.
